A teachers' spiritual retreat was held at the Saint Imre public education institution in Nyíregyháza on 28/08. The retreat was led by Father Imre Juhos, assistant priest of the Co-Cathedral of Our Lady of Hungary in Nyíregyháza.

The start of a school year always involves numerous tasks: supplementary admissions, examinations, textbook distribution, timetable creation, the organisation of class trips, tidying up classrooms, and the preparation of curricula and the annual work plan, all of which serve to ensure that students can smoothly and without hindrance get back into the rhythm in September.

Alongside the numerous practical tasks, time was also set aside at the Saint Imre public education institution in Nyíregyháza on 28/08/2024 for the teaching staff to spiritually lay the foundation for the academic year.
This year, the reflections of Father Imre Juhos focused on love, justice, and mercy.

Firstly, in connection with Pope Benedict XVI’s work Deus caritas est (encyclical on Christian love), Father Imre Juhos spoke about, among other things, the fundamental differences between the pagan and Christian image of God, and the resolution in Jesus of the tension between justice and love.
This was followed by a reflection on love that endures to the very end, and then a presentation on the spiritual-theological message of the Holy Liturgy. Father Imre enriched his theological discourses with art-historical and psychological references, thereby captivating the attention of his audience.

The communal Holy Mass was the crowning glory of the spiritual retreat.

We believe that Father Imre Juhos provided the educators of the Saint Imre institution with sufficient spiritual nourishment for the long journey ahead of them. May God reward his efforts with abundant blessings!
