Ferenc Palánki was born on 11 March 1964 in Balassagyarmat and grew up in the village of Csesztve. After graduating from secondary school, he earned a diploma in industrial engineering at the Technical College of Transport and Telecommunications in Győr.
Between 1989 and 1994, he completed his studies at the Theological College of Esztergom. He was ordained to the priesthood on 18 June 1994 in Esztergom and incardinated into the Diocese of Vác from 1 August.

27 December 2010 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Eger and bestowed upon Ferenc Palánki the titular see of Fidoloma.
On 26 February 2011, he was ordained bishop in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Eger.
