Marriage Preparation

Information on Marriage Preparation

Engaged couples who wish to contract a Church marriage must attend a preparatory course, a marriage preparation course, in order to adequately prepare for the Sacrament of Matrimony and for Christian family life.

Our Church professes that it is worthwhile to show young people that it is indeed possible, and also how it is possible, to live in a happy marriage. For this does not depend on chance, but can be learned, which is why we continuously work to prepare engaged couples for the Sacrament of Matrimony and for Christian family life.

We invite and welcome to our marriage preparation courses those couples who wish to celebrate their marriage in the Co-Cathedral of Our Lady of Hungary, but we also warmly welcome applications from couples who are already in a committed relationship and, without a specific date yet, are planning to marry.

Marriage preparation is time given to each other, so that engaged couples may get to know each other even better, their partner's thoughts, feelings, desires, and to firmly imprint upon their minds: that they have become responsible for one another, permanently. Marriage preparation is greatly needed so that engaged couples may recognise that they are to be unique for each other and prepare for a lifelong union, and be prepared.

For information on marriage preparation dates, please inquire with the priests conducting the marriage preparation, or at the parish office.
