The Catholic Social Days (KATTÁRS) will be held in Budapest on the last weekend of September, from 27 to 29 September. The Hungarian Catholic Radio, celebrating its twentieth anniversary, is preparing for the series of programmes, which include professional discussions, concerts, and naturally, liturgical elements, with live broadcasts.
The opening Holy Mass of the event will begin on Friday, 27/09/2024, at 18:00 in the University Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The principal celebrant of the Holy Mass will be Dr András Veres, President of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference (MKPK), and Bishop of Győr. The next day, Saturday, 28/09/2024, a Holy Mass will be held at 12:00 in the Downtown Parish Church, with Dr János Székely, Bishop of Szombathely, as the principal celebrant. The closing Holy Mass of KATTÁRS will begin at 10:00 in St Stephen's Basilica, with Cardinal Péter Erdő as the principal celebrant.
The Catholic Social Days address the Church's responses to important social issues affecting many. This year's central theme is education, which experts will discuss at a scientific conference and panel discussions, touching upon issues such as tasks related to integration, digitalisation, and changes in the role of educators.
In addition to this, KATTÁRS also offers numerous educational and entertaining programmes, some of which will be broadcast by the Hungarian Catholic Radio to its listeners. The medium, celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year, will set up its stand in the Museum Garden, where listeners and interested parties are welcome on Saturday, 28/09/2024, between 10:00 and 18:00, to participate in live programmes; they can also meet and talk with the radio's staff and current guests.
