On the morning of Maundy Thursday, on the feast of the institution of the priesthood and Holy Orders, Ferenc Palánki, Bishop of Debrecen-Nyíregyháza, celebrated Holy Mass in the Co-Cathedral of Our Lady of Hungary in Nyíregyháza. The Holy Mass was attended and concelebrated by Nándor Bosák, Bishop Emeritus of Debrecen-Nyíregyháza, and the priests of the diocese. During the Holy Mass, the clergy renewed their promises made at ordination.
The Chrism Mass is the first station in the celebration of the Sacred Triduum. During the liturgy, in addition to the renewal of promises by the clergy, the Blessing of the Oil of Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick, and the Consecration of the Chrism – used at the administration of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders, and the dedication of churches – took place.
The diocesan scholas also participated in the Holy Mass.
