The Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference expresses its sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the census process. Special thanks are extended to those who consciously declared their religious and denominational affiliation, despite the fact that answering the relevant question was not mandatory.

We are pleased to note that although forty percent of the population did not answer the question regarding religious and denominational affiliation, more than two-thirds of our fellow citizens who explicitly declared their religious belief identified themselves as belonging to the Catholic Church.

International trends are also observable in the census data, and our country and its Catholic communities are no exception to these. This presents a task for the Hungarian Catholic Church as well. The words spoken by Pope Francis during his visit to Hungary strengthen us in our mission, who encouraged the Christian community to "be present and bear witness".
