A walking pilgrimage and spiritual day for young people was organised in Nyíregyháza, attended by approximately 180 participants. Although the organisers, led by Father József Kálmán, had prepared several scenarios for the programme plan, taking into account the weather forecasts, everything eventually went as planned. A true physical and spiritual renewal awaited the young people on this day.
The gathering point was the Seregély István Priestly Social Home, where Father József Kálmán presented the day's programme to the participants gathered in the chapel, and after the blessing of His Excellency Nándor Bosák, Bishop Emeritus, the procession set off for the Kertváros Church, where Father József Pankotai awaited the young people for prayer.
The pilgrimage eventually arrived at Saint Emeric Grammar School, where Father Péter Máté led a communal prayer. This was followed by a communal lunch as part of the programme.
As the culmination of the day, Bishop Ferenc Palánki celebrated Holy Mass for the young people and their chaperones present, who were able to return home filled with good spirits and new inspirations.
The Bishop's homily can be listened to here:
The main theme of the day was the Holy Year, the Year of Hope. Father József Kálmán stated: "We prayed for the sick, for peace, for our family members, for our loved ones, for our community. So that in this jubilee Holy Year, we may be the "Pilgrims of Hope"."
Fathers János Bákonyi, Tamás Papp, and Ervin Mike, among the priests of the diocese, also joined the spiritual day's programmes, participating in the pilgrimage as chaperones. The background work of Sister Judit and the university students (girls and boys) was an enormous help.
We are deeply grateful for the help of everyone who participated in the preparation and organisation of this wonderful spiritual day.
